Generous gifts from donors to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry have greatly assisted us in achieving our mission through several professional development activities for students, faculty and staff. There are several ways in which an individual or organization may give to the Department, including the following:
An Endowment: The principal remains intact, and investment earnings are used to sponsor defined programs such as scholarships or faculty chair positions.
Annual Gifts: These may be designated for scholarships and/or professional development of departmental personnel, or may be unrestricted.
Memorial Gifts: Honoring a friend, professor or staff with a gift to the department.
All gifts to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry are logged in and deposited with the University of Oklahoma Foundation (http://www.oufoundation.org/ ). You may give to one or more of the following existing accounts, or you may give to a new account that you designate. To donate directly to an existing Fund through a secure on-line form (managed by the OU Foundation), please click on the words "On-line donation option" at the end of the Fund description.
1. Chemistry Fund (#30051): Established by gifts received from various sources; unrestricted, and allows the department to respond immediately to emerging needs. On-line donation option. 2. Fetterman Fund (#30456): Established by the estate of Buelah R. Fetterman; restricted for the use of lecturers to the campus in the field of chemistry. On-line donation option. 3. APEX Fund (#30733): “Alumni Program for Excellence”. Unrestricted. On-line donation option. 4. Astellas Pharma Technologies Scholarship (#32757): Established to provide scholarships to support undergraduate majors in chemistry and biochemistry as they pursue an education that parallels career opportunities at Astellas Pharma Technologies, Inc. On-line donation option. 5. Astellas Faculty Enrichment (#33046): Established to provide funds for the professional development activities for faculty and professional staff. On-line donation option. 6. Rosetta B. Barton Memorial Endowment (#40206): Established by Mr. Paul B. Barton to support professorship in food chemistry and other fields in chemistry. On-line donation option. 7. Belle Wilkonson Goodman Memorial Endowment (#40503): Established to provide scholarships. On-line donation option. 8. J. J. Zuckerman Memorial Endowment (#40867): Established to provide scholarships to an outstanding graduate student in the Department, with a preference given to a student pursuing a Ph.D. degree in organometallic or inorganic chemistry. On-line donation option. 9. James and Marguerite Dugger Endowment (#40944): Unrestricted. On-line donation option. 10. Sherril D. Christian Memorial Endowment (#41543): Established to provide scholarships to graduate students. On-line donation option. 11. Lloyd Swearingen Endowment (#41545): Established to provide annual awards to graduate students. On-line donation option. 12. Dick Van der Helm Scholarship (#42061): This fund was established by John and Mary Burks to provide scholarships to full-time, regularly enrolled undergraduate or graduate students, with a preference given to students participating in research activities. On-line donation option. 13. Roland Lehr Chemistry and Biochemistry Endowment (#42116): To provide scholarship support for students. On-line donation option. 14. J. Clarence Karcher Endowment (#47158): This fund supports our Distinguished Karcher Lecture Series. On-line donation option. 15. Phillips Petroleum Fund (#30897): To provide scholarships and fellowships for chemistry majors, travel funds for scholars, and funds for recruiting scholars. On-line donation option. 16. Associates Fund: Provides funds for academic enrichment purposes that: strengthen a specific program or area, provide seed money for additional external funding for academic programs, directly benefit students, provide important teaching or research materials and equipment, and address a strategic goal of the University. These funds are managed through the College of Arts and Sciences. On-line donation option.
Checks can be made payable to either the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry or to the University of Oklahoma Foundation; the account name and number must be indicated on the check to insure that it is deposited in the correct account.
