 Nathalie Claisse is our first graduate from the Cooperative M.S./Engineering Degree program between our department and ENSCCF of  Blaisse Pascal University in France.  She performed her research in the laboratory of George Lynn Cross Professor Kenneth Nicholas.  For details of the program, see  http://chem.ou.edu/ENSCCF.html

In other news, the following Student Performance Awards were presented at the 2009 PLU banquet held on Friday April 17, 2009.
 

GRADUATE STUDENT AWARDS

1.  Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards:  Selected on the basis of exceptional performance as a TA in our undergraduate laboratories.  
   WINNERS:  Vidya Kumar, Shawna Ellis, Matt Joyner, and Allison Fleshman

2.  Jerry J. Zuckerman Award:  Outstanding graduate research in organometallic or inorganic chemistry.
    WINNER:  Angus Lamar

3.  Belle W. Goodman Scholarship:
  Awarded on the basis of outstanding scholarship.
    WINNER:  Jon Henrikson

4.  Lloyd E. Swearingen Awards:  Selected on the basis of outstanding performance in research.
    WINNERS:  Binrui Cao, Eric Houghton, Devi Ekanayake

5.  Roland E. Lehr Award:
  Selected on the basis of outstanding performance in the graduate program.  
    WINNER:  Ashwani Vashishtha

6.  Sherril D. Christian Award:
  Selected on the basis of outstanding performance in research.  This is the premier graduate student award in the department.
    WINNER:  Rong Guan

 

In addition, Dr. Jun Yi was awarded the University of Oklahoma 2009 Ph.D. Dissertation Prize in Science and Engineering.

 

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT AWARDS

1.  Annual CRC Press Chemistry Freshman Award:  selected on the basis of Outstanding Academic Achievement in chemistry.
    WINNER:  Evan Trinidad

2.  Phillips Petroleum Awards for outstanding research:

    WINNERS:  Ganga Moorthy, Samantha Seaton, John Colson, Amanda Waters
